Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1442sq.kms protected area located right in the extreme North-eastern side of Uganda, 10-12 hours’ drive from Kampala. This is the 3rd biggest Uganda safari park, established in 1962 and protects important species of wildlife such as elands, black backed jackals, bushbucks, hyenas, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, bush pigs.

Kidepo Valley National Park is also an ultimate birding destination with more than 475 bird species. These include the kori bustards, secretary birds, Karamoja apalis, black breasted barbet, Abyssinian ground hornbill and others. Your fly in Kidepo wildlife safari begins and ends in Entebbe.

Day 1: Entebbe to Kidepo National Park

Kidepo Valley National Park is located in the North-eastern side of Uganda, 10-12 hours’ drive on road but today, you will take a flight from Entebbe International Airport. You will land at Apoka airstrip and then transfer to the safari lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive & visit to hot springs

Game drive: After breakfast, game drive starts where you will be exploring the different wildlife in Kidepo Valley National Park. The 3-4 hours’ guided game drive in Kidepo will have you exposed to range of wildlife that account for over 80 mammal species and 475 bird species, reptiles and other wildlife.

Expect to explore the big game, cheetahs, zebras, warthogs, birds such as ostriches, scarlet chested sunbird, violet tipped courser, rose ringed parakeet, yellow necked spur fowl, pygmy falcon, eastern yellow hornbills, little green bee-eaters, superb starling, Karamoja apalis, brown backed woodpecker etc.

Picnic Lunch & Kanangorok hot spring tour: You will have a picnic lunch then proceed to the Kanangorok hot springs. This hot springs usually records temperature rise of up to 60 degrees Celsius and flows between rocks. After your hot spring tour, retreat to have a leisurely dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morungole mountain hiking to visit IK

Enjoy an early breakfast, after, set off for a thrilling Mt. Morungole hiking 8 hours. This will start after briefing about your hike and what you should expect at the summits. Mt. Morungole is a home to IK people and expect to enjoy not only amazing hiking adventure but also interact with the IK people, learn about their distinct traditions and cultures.

Day 4: Game drive & Karamojong cultural visit

Breakfast early morning, after, Kidepo Valley National Park tour today includes a guided game drive via Narus Valley using a 4×4 safari vehicle. Narus Valley is a rich area with Kidepo Valley National Park most sought for wildlife with mesmerizing view of mountains at the distance.

There are game loops to explore along Narus Valley and wildlife sightings to expect include leopards, cheetahs, Jackson’s hartebeests, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and more. Retreat from Narus Valley game drive and settle for lunch at the lodge.

In the evening, end your day with a visit to Karamojong community. Explore the authentic cultures, traditions, unique Karamojong lifestyles, practices and more about pastoral practices. Return to the lodge for overnight stay in Kidepo N/Park.
